L'ouvrier du rail est installé au lieu dit "la ville en bois" où habitaient les ouvriers qui construisirent le tunnel de la voie ferrée Tulle-Argentat au tout début du XXe siècle. Cette sculpture rend hommage à leur dur labeur. La voie ferrée a été abandonnée en 1970 laissant en friche ces remarquables ouvrages de pierre. Nous y avons installé plusieurs sculptures à l'occasion de la biennale de 2007 dont le thème était le voyage. C 'est également un lieu de passage depuis la période romaine qui permettait de relier la vallée de la Dordogne et la vallée de la Corrèze.
L'homme qui porte sur son dos la clé de voûte du tunnel prend ici tout son sens....une occasion d'aller à sa rencontre sur la promenade de la pierre à Marc La Tour, il vous attend patiemment.
The worker of the rail is installed in the said place "the wooden city" where lived the workers who built the tunnel of the railroad Tulle-Argentat at the very beginning of the XXth century. This sculpture pays tribute in their hard labour. The railroad was abandoned in 1970 leaving uncultivated these remarkable stony works. We installed several sculptures on the occasion of the biennial event there of 2007 the theme of which was the journey. A stopping-off place since the Roman period is also which allowed to connect the valley of the Dordogne and the valley of the Corrèze.
