Ouverture et échanges Blandine Ouedraogo  Open-mindness and exchanges

Il y avait deux femmes et trois hommes sculpteurs du Burkina Faso pour la biennale de 2009. Blandine est peintre et batikière au Centre National d'Artisanat d'Art de Ouagadougou. Après une expérience de sculpture sur le site de Laongo, elle a tenu toute sa place sa place ici à Marc la Tour en sculptant le granite local.Sa sculpture aux formes arrondies entre figuration et abstraction prend des contours africains pour nous inviter à l'ouverture d'esprit et à l'échange entre nos deux sites de sculpture.
De retour en France, deux ans plus tard,elle a animé un stage de batik pour les enfants à la Cour de Arts, Elle se rappellera longtemps de cette période de Noël, magique pour les enfants qui ont fréquenté son atelier, mais si difficile pour elle qui ne connaissait pas le climat hivernal de la France....
Sa sculpture est aujourd'hui en bonne place dans le jardin de sculpture des cinq continents, elle ne craint ni le froid, ni la neige, ni la chaleur et restera longtemps à nous rappeler qu'il faut dépasser nos différences et cultiver les échanges culturels de tout temps....

There were two women and three men sculptors of Burkina Faso for the biennial event of 2009. Blandine is a painter and batikière in the National Center of Arts and crafts of Ouagadougou. After an experience of sculpture on the site of Laongo, she held all her  place here to Marc la Tour by sculpturing the local granite. her sculpture in the forms rounded off between representation and abstraction takes African outlines to invite us in the open-mindedness and in the exchange between our two sites of sculpture.
Of return in France, two years later, she livened up an internship of batik for the children to the Cour of Arts, She will remember herself for a long time of this Christmas time, magic for the children who saw frequently her workshop, but so difficult for her who did not know the winter climate of France...
Her sculpture is at the right place in the garden of sculpture of five continents today, she is not afraid either of the cold, or of the snow, nor the heat and will for a long time remain to remind us that it is necessary to exceed our differences and to cultivate the cultural exchanges always....

Le Christ en croix Michel Villier  2015 Crucifixion

.Le Christ en croix de Michel Villier est la dernière sculpture installée sur la place publique de Marc La Tour. Elle sera inaugurée en grande pompe le samedi 28 mars 2015 par la municipalité.
Nous pouvons dire que cette sculpture, sortie de notre atelier de l' Hort, est un des chefs d'oeuvre de la promenade de la pierre. Cette croix remplace une croix en métal qui est tombée récemment laissant la place à cette sculpture en lave  comme certaines croix de l'ancien cimetière. Chaque sculpture entre en dialogue dans le bourg de Marc la Tour avec l'espace public. Celle-ci signalant le cimetière est particulièrement bien adaptée au site. La figure d'inspiration romane du Christ en croix se détache sur le ciel invitant à la méditation croyants et non croyants.La forme courbe qui enveloppe le Christ totalement inédite montre l'imaginaire et la liberté du sculpteur dans une représentation à caractère religieux.Elle nous rappelle aussi que dans l'art roman il y avait bien sûr des figures imposées par l'église mais également  la créativité des sculpteurs.
Qui est Michel Villier ?
Un sculpteur autodidacte de Marc la Tour qui fréquente notre atelier tout en ayant exercé plusieurs profession éleveur de chèvres, régisseur d'un musée privé des année 30,compagnon charpentier..., Il fut le premier à nous accueillir chez lui depuis la création de l'atelier en 1992.Plusieurs de ses œuvres dont nous reparlerons sont installées dans le village. Sa démarche,souvent liée à sa foi, reste libre de toute attache laissant s'exprimer en taille directe, sans dessin préalable, un instinct naturel de sculpteur qui fait la fierté de notre atelier .Il égale par son audace les œuvres des sculpteurs professionnels que nous invitons tous les deux ans et nous encourage dans notre démarche artistique alliant les habitants, les amateurs d'art et les artistes professionnels pour un art de la pierre sans tabou ni frontières..

 Michel Villier's crucifixion is the last sculpture installed in the open by Marc La Tour. it will be inaugurated with great pomp on Saturday, March 28th, 2015 by the municipality.
We can say that this sculpture, taken out of our workshop of Hort, is one of masterpieces of the walk of the stone. This cross replaces a metal cross which fell recently making way for this sculpture in lava as certain crosses of the old cemetery. Every sculpture enters dialogue in Marc la Tour's village with the public place. This one indicating the cemetery is particularly well adapted to the site. The face of Romanic inspiration of the Crucifixion gets loose on the sky inviting in the meditation believers and unbeliever. The curved shape which wraps the Christ totally new shows the imagination and the freedom of the sculptor in a representation with religious character. She also reminds us that in the Romanesque art there were of course faces been imperative by the church but also the creativity of the sculptors.
Who is Michel Villier?
A self-taught sculptor of Marc la Tour who sees frequently our workshop while having exercising several profession breeder of goats, manager of a museum deprived of year 30, journeyman carpenter.... He was the first one to welcome us at his home since the creation of the workshop in 1992. Several of his works of which we shall speak again are installed in the village. His approach, often bound to its faith, remains free of any tie letting express himself in direct size, without preliminary drawingHis sculptor's natural instinct which makes the pride of our workshop .Il equal by his boldness the works of the professional sculptors whom we invite every two years and encourages us in our artistic approach allying the inhabitants, the art lovers and the professional artists for an art of the stone without taboo nor borders....

Le Puy du Ciel Lionel Schewzuck 2003

Lionel Schewzuck était présent aux premières biennale de 2001 et de 2003.Il a participé également à la résidence de  sculpture de 2012 au Burkina Faso avec l'atelier de Marc La Tour dont nous parlerons plus tard. Son atelier,installé aux Quoirs sur la commune de Saint Pierre Chérignat en Creuse, accueille en été des stages de bronze à la cire perdue avec le sculpteur burkinabé Idrissa Campaoré ....

Le galet est la première sculpture qu'il a réalisé à Marc la Tour, lisse et rugueuse elle recueille l'eau de pluie, Lorsqu'elle s'assèche un fonds de couleur rouge teinte le granite. Quelques uns s'amusent à caresser la pierre en fermant les yeux. Ce fut la demande formulée  au député François Hollande lors de sa venue à la biennale à la biennale en 2001.

"Lionel Schewzuck was present in the first ones biennial event of 2001 and 2003. His workshop, installed in Quoirs on the municipality of Saint Peter on Chérignat iin Creuse, welcomes in summer the bronze internships in the lost wax with the sculptor Burkinabe Idrissa Campaoré....

The pebble is the first sculpture that it realized to Marc la Tour, smooth and rough the sculpture collects the rainwater.When dries out a fund of red color tiente the granite. Someone enjoy caressing the stone by closing eyes. It was the formulated request for deputy Frannçois Hollande during his coming in the biennial event in 2001.

Le yin et le yang Laurent Herlin 2011

Première sculpture importante de Laurent Herlin qui fréquente assidûment l'atelier de Marc la Tour depuis plusieurs années . Il nous montre sa qualité première: une grande  maîtrise du travail à la main, passage obligé pour sculpter le granite.Les formes arrondies de yin et du yang lui ont permis de montrer sa dextérité dans le rugueux et le lisse. Depuis de grand pas ont été franchi.... 
Le thème entre bien sûr en écho à la biennale internationale de la pierre de 2011 où nous avons accueilli trois sculpteurs chinois et où les sculpteurs de notre atelier ont pu librement entrer en correspondance voir en symbiose avec le continent asiatique.Malgré les difficultés de la langue, le travail de la pierre a permis de se rapprocher de cette culture millénaire et aux sculpteurs de se rencontrer fraternellement.
 Un symbole de complémentarité ...

Laurent Herlin's first important sculpture which sees frequently dedicatedly Marc la Tour's workshop for several years shows us its first quality: a master's degree of the hand work passage obliged to sculpture the granite. The rounded off forms of yin and yang allowed him to show his dexterity in the rough and ribband. Since of big step were crossed.... 

The theme enters of course echo in the international biennial event of the stone of 2011 when we welcomed three Chinese sculptors and where the sculptors of our workshop were freely able to enter correspondence to see in symbiosis with the Asian continent. In spite of the difficulties of the language the work of the stone allowed to get closer to this thousand-year-old culture and to the sculptors to meet in a brotherly fashion.
A symbol of complementarity....
