Excision Biennale 2009
Sumai Rasmata Boly est une jeune artiste ougalaise, elle a participé avec 4 autres artistes burkinabé à la biennale internationale de la pierre en 2009. Le thème qu'elle a choisi pour sa sculpture ne peut laisser indifférent : comment se taire sur cette pratique d'un autre âge qui perpétue encore la mutilation de jeunes filles africaines?
Sumai a particpé a deux symposium de sculpture sur le site de Laongo : le berger Peulh (son ethnie) et regard de femme sur la société. Son activité principale depuis plusieurs années est la création de bijoux avec les matériaux de son pays: bronze,graines,cuirs,perles,verre recyclé,bois... un art où elles est reconnue parmi les meilleurs dans la capitale Ougadougou. La famille Boly se sont également des peintres dont le grand frère Sambo Boly qui bénéficie aujourd'hui d' une reconnaissance internationale pour son oeuvre picturale inspirée de la tradition Peulh.

The theme which she chose as her sculpture cannot leave unmoved: how to keep silent about this practice of another age which still immortalizes the mutilation of African girls ?
Sumai has participed two symposium of sculpture on the site of Laongo: the shepherd Fulani ( his ethnic group) and the feminine look on the society. Her main activity for several years is the creation of jewels with the materials of its country: bronze, seeds, leathers, pearls, recycled glass, wood.... an art where she is recognized among the best in the capital Ougadougou. The Boly family are also painters of whom the older brother Sambo Boly which benefits from an international gratitude for its pictorial work inspired by the Fulani tradition .
